At S J Building Contractors Ltd we have a combined experience of over of 50 years and understand the vital importance of health and safety at work, working on regular ongoing programmes to ensure our health and safety systems of safe working practices are in place and kept as our main working tool and asset.
We manage our own day to day health and safety procedures. With an excellent track record, we aim to have a zero harm incident regime on all our sites, we attend regular health and safety talks and training, both in-house and out on site, we employ external health and safety advisors, that visit both site and our head office.
Our Accreditations
Our Accreditations with Constructionline Gold and CHAS proves our commitment to the industry.
All our employees and operatives hold current and valid CSCS and CPCS. Some hold SSMSTS – Site Management Safety Training Scheme and First Aid at Work.
Our site management ensures all operatives follow our day to day health and safety operating systems.
Training
As well as the extensive safety training carried out we also recruit up to six apprentices every year. Furthermore we support management training up to NVQ level 5.
Our rolling training programme ensures that our personnel are competent, have the necessary skill sets and are fully conversant with current legislation and new initiatives. We have representation on the National Executive Board of The National Federation of Builders and on the Advisory Committee at North Devon College.
